LTS Cameras, Inside Control4

LTS IP cameras, PTZs, and NVRs integrate directly into Control4 smart home systems — live video, camera control, and security events alongside lighting, climate, and audio, all in one interface.

One System, Every Device

Control4 is a smart home automation platform that brings lighting, climate, audio, access, and security cameras together under one interface — touch screens, the Control4 app, or voice control.

Rather than a separate app for the cameras and a separate app for the lights, a Control4 dealer programs everything into a single system. LTS cameras and recorders connect into that system through a Control4 driver — a small software package that translates LTS's camera commands into something the Control4 controller understands, the same way a printer driver lets a computer talk to a specific printer.

How LTS Connects to Control4

Integration happens at the network level — no special LTS hardware required beyond the camera or NVR itself.

1

Same Network

The LTS camera, PTZ, or NVR sits on the same IP subnet as the Control4 system — no special wiring beyond standard network cabling.

2

Install the Driver

The installer loads the matching LTS driver file into Control4 Composer Pro's driver library.

3

Discover or Add Manually

Devices already on the network are often found automatically via SDDP discovery, or added manually with the camera's IP address.

4

Program & Control

Once connected, cameras appear inside Composer Pro for programming — tied into scenes, alerts, and touch screen layouts.

Compatibility

Driver Compatibility by Controller

Support varies by Control4 controller generation. Check the table below before quoting a job.

Not supported
HC-250 / HC-800 limitation: When an LTS IP camera is connected to an HC-series Control4 controller, the live view sub-stream switches to MJPEG. Because LTS DVRs and NVRs don't support MJPEG, the camera image can appear blank on the local monitor when viewing 4 or more cameras at once on these older controllers. This limitation does not apply to EA-1, EA-3, or EA-5 controllers.

What You Can Do Once Connected

Integration goes beyond just viewing a camera feed — it ties security into the rest of the home.

Live View on Any Touch Screen

Pull up any connected camera on a Control4 touch screen, the mobile app, or a TV overlay without switching to a separate surveillance app.

PTZ Control From the App

Pan, tilt, and zoom supported LTS PTZ cameras directly from the Control4 interface on EA-series controllers.

Trigger Scenes from Camera Events

Use camera motion or alarm input as a trigger for lighting, audio announcements, or other automation scenes elsewhere in the Control4 program.

One Programming Environment

Cameras, lighting, climate, and audio are all programmed inside Composer Pro — no separate configuration tool for the security side of the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Control4 dealers and installers about LTS integration.

Do I need a special version of the LTS camera for Control4?
No. Standard LTS IP cameras, PTZ cameras, and NVRs connect via the IP camera/PTZ/NVR drivers — there's no separate "Control4 edition" hardware required.
Why is my camera image blank when viewing 4+ cameras locally on an HC-250 or HC-800?
This is a known limitation on HC-series controllers: the live sub-stream switches to MJPEG, which LTS DVRs/NVRs don't support, causing a blank image at higher camera counts on the local monitor. EA-1, EA-3, and EA-5 controllers don't have this limitation.
Is the NVR itself viewable inside Control4?
NVR integration is not supported on HC-250 or HC-800 controllers. For Control4 integration, individual IP cameras are added directly via the IP camera driver rather than through the NVR.
Will the camera be discovered automatically in Composer Pro?
If the camera is on the same subnet and supports SDDP, it's often discovered automatically once the driver is loaded. Otherwise, it can be added manually using the camera's IP address and login credentials.
Are the drivers free?
Yes, LTS provides the IP camera, PTZ, and NVR Control4 driver files free of charge — download links are above.
