Selecting the correct patch cord matters for network performance and managing Power over Ethernet (PoE) loads.
Patch cords are nearly always the weakest link in a network. Although the cabling infrastructure — the permanent links — is installed by professional, licensed installers, the patch leads connecting equipment are often installed later by IT managers or on-site staff.
IT staff are usually very proficient at installing switchgear, but they often underestimate the importance of using high-quality, factory-tested patch leads.
