Thermal Cameras — Fire Detection & Perimeter Tracking

LTS thermal cameras see heat, not light — spotting an overheating motor before it ignites or a person crossing a fence line in total darkness, fog or glare, where an ordinary camera sees nothing at all.

VANADIUM OXIDE UNCOOLED THERMAL SENSORS -20°C TO 550°C DETECTION RANGE LTS PLATINUM WORKS WITH LTS FLAMEGUARD

Two Ways Thermal Protects Your Site

A thermal sensor reads surface temperature, not visible light, so it keeps working in total darkness, smoke, fog and glare. LTS builds that into two real use cases: catching a fire risk before it becomes a fire, and detecting and tracking intruders along a perimeter.

Thermal camera fire detection and prevention

Fire Detection / Prevention

Protect key infrastructure such as industrial machinery, refrigerators and conveyor belts — early detection saves your business and your customers before the event. Protect recycling plants from combustible materials, and activate alarms when fire is detected to trigger water sprinklers.

Perimeter Tracking

LTS Active Perimeter Detection — a high-speed, long-range auto-tracking PTZ with thermal detection (IP-PTZ-ComboT4842) combines a Vanadium Oxide uncooled image sensor with integrated Human/Vehicle AI to detect people, vehicles and objects. It works in conjunction with a commercial-grade PTZ camera with 42x optical zoom, instantly zooming into the detection area and following the subject, day and night.

If tracking isn't required, LTS also offers a fixed option — the Bi-Spectrum Thermal Bullet, available in multiple lens options for varying applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a thermal camera different from a normal IR camera?â–¼
An IR camera uses infrared LEDs to illuminate a scene so a normal image sensor can still see in the dark. A thermal camera has no illumination at all — its sensor reads surface heat directly, so it works in total darkness, smoke, fog and glare, and can flag a temperature exception (such as overheating machinery) that a normal camera simply cannot see.
What temperature range can LTS thermal cameras detect?â–¼
LTS's bi-spectrum thermal models (CMIP793TD series and CMIP3T42W) are rated for a temperature exception alarm range of -20°C to 550°C, suited to fire-prevention applications on machinery, conveyors and electrical infrastructure.
Do I need the PTZ tracking combo, or is a fixed thermal camera enough?â–¼
If you need the system to automatically zoom in and follow a detected person or vehicle along a long perimeter, the IP-PTZ-ComboT4842 tracking combo is built for that. If you just need reliable fixed-position detection on a boundary or fence line, the Bi-Spectrum Thermal Bullet (CMIP793TD series, available in 7mm/15mm/25mm/35mm) is the simpler, fixed alternative.
Can a thermal camera trigger an alarm or sprinkler automatically?â–¼
Yes — LTS thermal cameras can activate alarms when a fire or temperature exception is detected, which can be used to trigger water sprinklers as part of a custom solution designed with LTS certified installers via LTS Flameguard.
Are the indoor bullet/turret models only for fire prevention?â–¼
The CMIP9T221-3M and CMIP3T22W1-2M thermal-and-optical bullet/turret models are aimed at indoor fire-prevention use — engine rooms, ATMs, conference rooms, warehouses, museums, train stations and power stations — using built-in behaviour analysis (line crossing, intrusion, region entrance/exit) alongside the temperature exception alarm.
