What is akubela?
akubela is the dedicated smart home automation brand created by Akuvox — the same company behind the smart intercom systems LTS Security Australia distributes. While Akuvox focuses on intercom and access, akubela extends that ecosystem into full whole-house control: lighting, climate, curtains, security, energy, and entertainment, all from one set of control panels and one app.

What is KNX?
KNX is the worldwide open standard for home and building automation — and it's the backbone of the akubela system.
KNX is an international, manufacturer-independent standard for controlling lighting, blinds, heating, ventilation, security, energy management, and more, all over a single wired bus cable. It is published as ISO/IEC 14543-3, CENELEC EN 50090, and CEN EN 13321-1, and is maintained by the non-profit KNX Association based in Brussels, Belgium.
What makes KNX different from proprietary smart home systems is interoperability: a switch made by one KNX-certified manufacturer will work seamlessly with a dimmer, sensor, or control panel made by a completely different KNX-certified manufacturer. Every certified device speaks the same language on the same bus.
KNX devices are configured using ETS (Engineering Tool Software), the standard configuration software used by certified KNX installers worldwide. Because the wiring and configuration follow a fixed international standard, KNX installations are known for being extremely reliable and stable over the long term — a critical factor for new-build villas, apartments, and commercial fit-outs where rewiring after the fact is not an option.

Most residential projects combine both — a wired KNX backbone for critical circuits, with wireless add-ons for flexible retrofits and easy expansion.
