LTS Gigabit PoE Surge Protector (LT-POESP)
The LTS Gigabit PoE Surge Protector is an inline RJ45 lightning and transient voltage arrestor designed to shield PoE-powered network equipment such as IP cameras, NVRs, wireless access points and PoE switches from damaging power surges. Rated for full Gigabit data throughput, it sits between a PoE switch or injector and the powered device, passing data and power through unaffected while diverting dangerous voltage spikes safely away from your equipment.
Key Features
- Gigabit data support at 10/100/1000Mbps so there is no bottleneck on high-resolution camera or network traffic
- 48V working voltage (Un) matched to standard PoE power delivery
- 5kA maximum discharge current to absorb strong lightning-induced or switching surges
- 200V protection level (Up) that clamps voltage spikes before they reach connected devices
- Fast 1ns response time for near-instant surge suppression
- Low 0.5dB insertion loss, preserving signal integrity and PoE power efficiency
- Full 8-pin protection circuit (1/2, 3/6, 4/5, 7/8) covering both data and power pairs
- Wide -40°C to 85°C operating range, suitable for both indoor and exposed installation locations
- Compact inline design with shielded RJ45 connectors for simple, tool-free installation
Typical Applications
This surge protector is intended for security and networking installers who need to protect PoE-powered CCTV cameras, NVRs, PoE switches, or wireless bridges installed on rooftops, poles, or building exteriors where exposure to lightning strikes and electrical transients is higher. It is commonly placed at the point where an outdoor cable run enters a building, or directly in front of a sensitive PoE device, providing a cost-effective layer of protection that helps prevent costly equipment failures and downtime after storms or electrical surges on the network cabling.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this surge protector support PoE pass-through?
Yes. It is designed to allow Power over Ethernet to pass through to the connected device while protecting both the data and power lines from voltage surges.
Will it slow down my Gigabit network connection?
No. With a rated insertion loss of only 0.5dB and full support for 10/100/1000Mbps speeds, the impact on network performance is negligible.
Where should I install this device?
It should be installed inline on the Ethernet/PoE cable run, ideally at the point closest to where the cable enters a building or immediately before the PoE-powered device it is protecting, such as a camera or access point.
